These figures are generated live from the library on every page view — they update automatically as families are added and downloaded.

families.draftsperson.net is a free library of Revit families in .rfa format for Autodesk Revit. Every family downloads instantly – no registration, no accounts, no paywalls – and loads straight into your project.

Who runs this site

The library is curated by YZ, a professional drafter with more than twenty years of experience in architectural, structural and civil documentation. The families here were built or collected during real project work, then cleaned and standardised before being published.

YZ also runs the Art of Technical Drawing YouTube channel and the wider Draftsperson.net family of sites: blocks.draftsperson.net for free AutoCAD blocks in DWG format and blog.draftsperson.net for drafting articles.

Quality standards

Every family in the library follows the same conventions, so it behaves predictably the moment you load it:

  • Saved in an early Revit release where practical, so the family upgrades cleanly into whatever version you run rather than refusing to load.
  • Built as a loadable .rfa family in the correct Revit category, so it schedules, tags and filters the way Revit expects.
  • Stripped of project-specific data before publishing – no leftover views, no imported CAD, no unused parameters.
  • Supplied with a type catalogue where a family ships in several sizes, so you load only the types you need.

How the site is funded

The site is funded by advertising. Downloads are counted for popularity rankings but never gated – you will never be asked to register, subscribe or pay. If the library saves you modelling time, you can buy YZ a coffee.

Using the families

All families are free for personal, educational and commercial projects. See the license and FAQ page for the details.
